Summer Programs

The summer program is geared to students between the ages of 14 – 18. Instruction will be provided by VIU faculty and BC certified teachers.

ELL Language Development and Cultural Experience

This program offers English Language Learning at The High School at VIU and cultural experiences on and around Vancouver Island and the city of Vancouver. Students may choose from a 1 to 8 week experience.

The English ability of students will be assessed upon arrival and they will be assigned to an appropriate skill level class. 

BC Curriculum Credit Courses

This program offers BC curriculum credit courses at The High School at Vancouver Island University. Credit courses include: Math (all grade levels), Environmental Science 11, and ESL.

Students will take 2 academic courses during the 1-month, and will need to meet course pre-requisites.

 

In order to submit an application, the documents listed below are required. If you do not upload these documents into the online application system, you cannot complete the application process. If you do not submit a complete application within ten (10) days, the partial application will be automatically deleted. If you require more time to complete the application please email highschool@viu.ca and we would be happy to extend access for another 10 days.

  • Signed Student Agreement (provided within the application form)
  • Completed Custodianship document (optional, and provided within the application form)

BC Curriculum Credit Courses

  • for students aged 14-18 years old
  • completed application form on True North
  • Transcript from current and previous school year (translated into English if necessary)
  • THS online English assessment
  • Canadian students: Birth certificate; International students: Passport photo page
  • Entry into Environmental Science 11 requires the following pre-requisites: 
    • Science 10 – minimum grade 60%, and
    • English 10 – minimum grade 60% or THS online English assessment
