Adult International High School Diploma

Length: 1 year (8-month)

Location Offered: Nanaimo Campus 

For non-graduated Adult International students or students who have graduated from a Grade 11 program with an IELTS of less than 6.0.

  • 18 years old by December 31 of the year they enter
  • Non-graduated Adult
  • IELTS (or equivalent) of at least 4.0 overall. Applications will not be complete without an official IELTS score (or equivalent).

Important Note: An IELTS of 5.5 or 6.0 is required to complete this program in 1 academic year (8 months). Add an extra semester of study for each level of IELTS below 5.5.

The average student will obtain the following:

  • Adult BC Dogwood High School diploma
  • VIU English entrance requirement met which allows direct entry to a variety of VIU degree, diploma and certificate programs (as long as academic pre-requisites met)
  • 3 Vancouver Island University credits
  • Skills for academic success

  1. Click Create Account. Fill in the requested Account Details. Click Create Account at the bottom of the page.
  2. Check your email inbox for an email that you will use to validate your new account.
  3. Sign into your account using the email address and password you provided.
  4. Click Create a New Application.
  5. From the drop down menu, select the program you are applying for. 
    Fill the remainder of the requested fields to create the application.

This program starts in September, and follows the university's academic calendar. Applications are accepted on an ongoing basis.

Students needing to complete the program in more than 1 year will follow the yearly study plan based on the second Semester 1 AP course they are enrolled in.

A Conditional Letter of Acceptance and invoice will be sent advising the total amount of tuition payable, and how and when to pay.

Once tuition fees are paid, we will send an Official Letter of Acceptance as well as further information about the program and living in Nanaimo.
